Court Ruling on Freelancers' Electronic Rights
(6/26/01) In an electronic-age copyright dispute, the Supreme Court ruled
Monday that free-lance writers can control whether their works that are sold

Napster Signs Deal with Indie Labels

reports that Napster has signed an agreement that covers music from more
than 150 record companies, including artists such as Stereophonics, Moby, Ash,
Paul Oakenfold, Underworld and Tom Jones.
Mies in Berlin: Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's European Projects
(6/22/01) Mies in Berlin is the first in-depth look at the early
career of this architect. The exhibition and accompanying
book will examine Mies's architectural work from the time he arrived in
Berlin in 1905 and established his architectural practice there in 1913, until

Carlos Blanco: La Cruda Realidad, Raw Reality

comments on his country's political dynamics, and its effects on the global

Royalties Coming In at E-Reads
(6/18/01) E-reads, the
e-book publisher founded by agent Richard Curtis in January 2000, is on its
way toward collecting total royalty revenues in the "low six figures" for
2001, Curtis told PW. Under the company's business model, e-reads splits
royalties 50/50 with its authors. Curtis said business in the second quarter
will be triple that of the first period due in part to an increase in the
number of titles available from the company, broader distribution and the

Hitchcock and Painting

parallels between film and painting and will include 200 nineteenth- and
twentieth-century artworks - paintings, drawings, prints, illustrated books
