Hospitality narrows
from idle experiments of days
to stale rooms like unwashed sheets.
Shake out the acid sun. Dissolve,
wan and pallid, like days,
dwarfed and peaked last peppers,
stems shrinking from their leaves.
Fade like patio umbrellas,
bleak and damp sand palaces.
Retreat. Your mind is mild.
