I finally let the song play,
and I found that my body,
back and forth, can sway
with the forgotten dance.

Once effortless, now stumbling
I have not practiced the routine
With each step, I’m fumbling
to find solid ground.

En pointe I rise, steady
without applause at my steps.
Expected have been here already.
Still, I take my bow.
