The Truth Gary Bloom Poetry

by Gary Bloom

Published in Issue No. 266 ~ July, 2019

Maybe, if between us, we could have said

one simple truth to each other

instead of wallowing in innuendo

and lies, the kind of high school

patter between homecoming queens

and quarterbacks,

the kind of superficial nonsense

that gets people married

and divorced,

people who should have never been married,

people who never once, not once

told each other

the truth.
