he left,

and her heart broke in seven pieces

and her head hurt worse than ever

and her chest felt constricted

and her hands wouldn’t stop shaking

and her imagination betrayed her

and her self-image became distorted

and her will to persist seemed crippled

and it all went downhill around her

and she thought the sadness could never end

and she blamed herself through it all

and she just wanted him back at all costs

and she never would feel good enough for anyone again

and she would never love herself after this

and she wanted nothing more than to sleep,

to sleep until the wounds healed,

and so…

she slept.

 But then She woke up.

And then She realized that he was the problem.

And then She learned to live without him.

And then She learned to love Herself again.

And then She allowed someone else to love Her again.

 She moved on,

but he came back out of jealousy

and he felt angry that She was happy

and he said that his heart broke in seven pieces

and he claimed that his head hurt worse than ever

and he tried to call Her and say that his chest felt constricted

and he mentioned that his hands wouldn’t stop shaking

and he allowed his imagination to convince him that She betrayed him

and he said that Her personality became distorted

and he said that his will to persist seemed crippled

and then for him it all went downhill without Her

and his sadness felt as though it could never end

and so he blamed Her for it all

and he texted Her that he wanted Her back at all costs

and he told Her that he never would feel good enough for anyone again

and that he would never love himself after this

and that if She didn’t respond he’d go to sleep,

and he’d sleep forever and it’d be all Her fault.

and so…

 She blocked him.

IG.C. Ramey is a writer, designer, photographer, and English graduate student from Greenville, SC. He is influenced by both writers and artists that push boundaries, as he tries to challenge the status quo through his own work. Whether it be his love for minimalist design, gritty urban photography, or my clear succinct style of writing, everything he does comes from an internal passion to simply do as Neil Gaiman once suggested, "make good art."
