Published in Issue No. 282 ~ November, 2020

Pif Magazine presents the work of Hemant Rao, a national-award recipient artist from India, who has been fully devoted to art since the teenage years.

Rao works with soft pastels on canvas, and is praised for infusing this medium “with calm and poise”.

Rao has been been given national recognition, including the Junior Fellowship (2011-12) from the Ministry of Culture. And last year, he was the recipient of the 60th National Academy Award 2019 (Lalit Kala), New Delhi.

Rao participated in numerous art camps, and group shows and exhibits in India, South Korea, Taipei, Thailand… He had his solo shows held in New Delhi, Mumbai, and Bhopal.

Rao is searching for a peaceful reflection of his inner self through different colors and shapes, through abstract. He depicts moments of life and light in which he finds ecstasy.
