So many hard-angled shoulders

Rising toward just a sliver of sky

Steel bibs shielding us

from the blue-lipped city world

Dusk—soon too many stars to hold

in this black seam

Asphalt-faced strangers

glare up at the moon

The sidewalks split open

Someone in the shadows

forgets you
